URGENT, Hall for 1000 pax

I need your help, as my darling friend is getting married and is the quest to find a hall for 1000 pax, as they want to hold a sit down dinner. They are not opting for a hotel, as they prefer to have control over the food choices plus it'll be more personal.

We have tried but they are either too small or fully booked till next year.

Unaisah Azlan Feb 2012 Update

I get a lot of emails with regards to Unaisah.. I sure have good news for you, as Unaisah will be able to take orders for June 2012 on-wards. She will be out of the country this month, hence it will be difficult to get a hold of her, but due try catching her mid March, am sure she will try to cater your appointments InsyaAllah.

I am hoping to get a booking to, hopeful that my times is here too.

Bella Swan's Wedding Dress

I know, I am a wedding dress junkie. For right now, I really can't help it.

I just so want to dedicate a post, to the 2nd most eagerly awaited wedding dress of the year right after Kate Middleton's was Bella Swans. It was so protected all though out shooting just so none of the paparazzi's would catch a glimpse the whole world was waiting too see..

The dress was very simple, rich satin with very beautiful details.

It was designed by Carolina Herera.

Choosing the Dress/Designer Tips

Alhamdulillah, even though I have somewhat become a slow blogger of recent times, I still get emails...asking for opinions, heads up on designers etc.

Note I know I am worst at replying, and honestly that is due to my crazy work schedule and my being tired at other times.

After much thought, a lot really because it has been a few years, I finally have a feel of how to go about this dilemma of choosing what to wear and who to make it.

There are some brides who have a lot of extra cash saved in and can afford to go that extra mile for the perfect dress. Then again there are other brides who would rather save the cash for other expenses. In the end its all up to the bride herself.

here's some tips circa scenarios

1) If you already know what you want and how you want it to be

Okay we all bought bridal magazines, googled and roam all the photog sites available to look at previous brides for ideas and inspiration. So, if you know what you want, sure of the fabric/material you would like to don. Then its best you get your material and bring a copy of the picture of the design/s to a high street tailor and have it tailored for a sensible amount. A dear friend of mine just went to one of the upscale boutiques in Pertama complex and had it done there. The outcome, beautifully tailored.

But this option will leave you a bit busy as you might need to order your shoes seperately, but again if done on your own since you know what you want to wear, itll also be affordable. Believe me there are plenty of shoe makers out there. Do share if you know any.

Another friend of mine, who was planning her wedding which was really like they met they fell in love lets marry now like in a movie story ( the guy was sooooo sweet). Well she went to jakel bought the beaded chiffon had her perosnal tailor do a mini kurung, went to ariani custom order a tudung and bought some wedding heels at Lewre. Settled. oh yeah and she bought extra chiffon had some beadings from the the kurung patched on. Simple, Sophisticated, Perfect. Saved a lot of money.

2. You are not sure what to wear, want something new and fresh and willing to spend a little more

Okay so this wear we start researching on designers. There will be segments within the list of designers. Be it the couture I would call the likes of Radzuan Radzwill, Rizalman, Salikin Sidek, Bernard Chandran, Bill Keith etc, ones that have been doing this for more than a decade and no longer needs an introduction. Prices to be on a higher scale.

Then you have the younger yet vibrant bold upcoming designers such as Rizman Ruzaini, Hatta Dolmat, Nurita Harith,Syahrir Nordin, Jovian Mandagie, Qudyn, Arma Couture etc. Really good and they all have their personal touch, like if you were to see their designs, you know there and then without reading any excerpts that was theirs. Prices to be expensive upon designs but worth the money you pay.

Now you have the quiet rising. These are the designers that are slowly building their name but with less aggressiveness more on clientele based work. I would like to name Unaisah Azlan, Ken Anwar, Puteris in house designer etc. These are the more hits close to home designers. Very affordable.

Then you have Syomir Izwa. I don;t know why, but syomir you have to put him in a class of his own. He has been designing for awhile now, but he build his name on his own terms, which I admire very much. Evidently lately, he has become a lot more popular with his creative designs for Yuna. But still he worked hard to be where he is now.

The reason you see a designer is to get a creation. You want plain chiffon to turn into this awesome patched lace with beadings, pleats here and there, best veil, matching shoes, new stylish tudung/turban, you name it, they create it. You pay the extra money for a creation, to make you look prettiest on that special day.

3) The Classic Bride Look

Okay, to me there are 2 important things you need to decide, first do you want to look like a bride or do you want to look like a princess/queen. Decide that and then we can move on to the essentials. Note the Duchess of Cambridge looked like a bride on her wedding day. She wasnt trying to be a princess. Her look, stunning, classic.

What do I mean by being classic? It means that in 20 years time, people look back at your wedding pic and will say, my gosh thats so classic and chic. Which utterly means the design is and will always be in time.

For instance

Princess Grace Kelly, this wedding was back in early 1950s, but her dress until today is iconic, that even Duchess Kate wanted something of the same sort.

In ten years we will look back at these photos and still say ohhh how perfect these dresses were.

So in all Malay tradition, the safest is to just wear a kurung, may it be modern,mini or normal. Just buy pretty white lace, chiffon add some detailing at the cufffs, neckline and you are set.

I quite admired Mizz Nina's choice for her nikah. She had her baju kurung done at her personal tailor, Lady Jane, and it was simple design of a kurung. The twist was the gorgeous material she chose. I found something similar in singapore, and it was roughly 280 sing dollars per meter. So basically, you pay a lot for the beautiful fabric, but the design is toned down yet effortlessly timeless.

My other top favorites

So I know its a lot of that kebaya jubah look, and in recent times not a lot of brides have opted for this look, as perhaps it is due the rise of the designs ala dress. But somehow for me, the mini kurung and this kebaya jubah is something that I really adore.

4. Rentals

Yes, renting is another option. Many perhaps rent dresses for their sanding ceremonies, as these dresses are very elaborate and you only want to wear it once. So my best friend the one who had a shotgun wedding almost, rented a gorgeous dress from Syahrir Nurdin, but for her tandang ceremony she bought a ready made piece which was also so very beautiful from a boutique which I can't recall where. Basically she spent RM4k on all her dresses, nikah, sanding and bertandang. 2 were hers and chiffon so she could where it again, the other one rented.

I guess in the end it all drops down to how much money you are willing to spend.

Remember I did start blogging about Ken Anwar a year ago... I heard from him there has been quite a number of readers that started hiring his services. Before this he was attached with another fashion house. But now he is totally on his own. Which gives him more liberty to work and focus on each project.

I have done quite a few dresses with him actually. Nothing extravagant, but impeccable work for me to wear to a wedding/weddings.

It was chiffon.. with victorian button cuffs.. and a pretty not over the top at all trail..it was frilly actually...not trailly.

major point. VERY AFFORDABLE.

I kept looking in to see their booming business. Hopefully, maybe just one day, I will get to hire her services.

Its that homey touch they have. That just makes it feel so at place.

New Year

So it seems, it has been ages since I shared anything on my blog.

Firstly I had to move due to a project at work. So I am for the current time, not based in KL. Which is bonkers, because I miss my family a little too much.

Secondly, he got married over Christmas. Yes, some days I am still speechless.

Which comes to the point, that Allah charts are lives in ways we sometimes do not understand, but there will come a time when we do.

Over Christmas, my best friend and I went to Singapore...because I just couldn't be here. I dont really feel like I can even get on facebook.

Its not that I can't get over him, its just the fact that he moved on, or is trying to. We did speak before my big move. May only good things come to him.

Bless him Allah, he deserves happiness.

Well after all this time blogging, and the feeling of my future happiness is so close, right in front of me, this is what I want to share with you guys that never gave up.

I want to be covered in white lace, walking 2 steps behind him, letting him lead the way, I want to blush, to assure him I am nervous but want nothing more than to be right there next to him.

I want him to catch my smile and know that I will do nothing less than to make him feel complete.

I know, it sounds dreamy. I know it sounds so far from real. I know its cheesy.

But a girl can't help but feel the way she feels.

The Abaya Dress for Weddings

Hi Ladies,

I think its time I write something on dresses, my all time favorite topic to express.

Alright, back in I believe it was circa 2002 if not 2003 at my grandma's, I remember flipping through the May edition of Wanita Magazine, it was their annual wedding edition. At the time, Norjuma Habib Mohamed was just launched into the media industry and she was featured and modeled the latest collection from Munawarah Boutique. I remember her vividly in this gorgeous chiffon white in color, with a lot of sequins, jubah with a matching tudung. it was just something so fresh and not at all your normal wedding look. I fell in love with Munawarah instantly, but I also knew, it was Norjuma's very cute face that added to the pretty perfection that was glowing in that glossy magazine.

Soon after, I recall Wardina getting married, and she wore that same white jubah just in a different shade but still almost identical during her nikah ceremony. I remember looking at the picture, and she was as beautiful as always, and then I saw that twinkle in her husband's eyes, as if he had no words to express how just sitting next to her brought that much joy to that grooms face.

So fast forward a few years, and I am at that age where I am supposed to get married, just still waiting for that knight in all shiny gear to arrive I must admit. But still I have all the details of the dress I dream to wear lingering on and on and on.

But I knew somehow I still wanted to wear this jubah or better know classified as abaya during my wedding. I knew that I will wear a baju kurung for my nikah, so its up to my reception or his reception. ;)

Here is where I will explain to you why, because I know some of you might have your eyes rolling thinking what is up with Zain...??

Above, the abaya Queen Rania wore in 1999 when King Abdullah was crowned King of Jordan,

Ten years later in 2009, Queen Rania wore the same dress again, only this time she styled it with a nice belt to complete this look. To be able to wear the same dress after one whole decade and look the epitome of queen perfection, that is what we call a classic.

Next up, Queen Salma of Morocco.

The Queen wore this to the Monaco Royal wedding of Prince Albert. I think its sweet, royal but without trying to hard.

Next Princess Lalla Meryam and her daughter at the same wedding.

This dress I loved the most, worn by Lalla Soukina. Why? because it was in my favorite color of the moment blush pink, and it was not over the top. It was loose, but yet oozed of sexy appeal. Its like you don't have to try hard. Its still so very modest but in fashion with all the right reasons to go for.

Here is another dress worn by the princess. Its hot, to me at least.

So yeah, if the royals from the middle east all wear this with pride to European weddings, and still look so beautiful, I don't see why I cant pull it off. I just need to lose some more fat so I can create the illusion of myself drowning in this abaya, with a small waist.

One more thing, if I cant convince my mom or future mother in law to wear an abaya to any of the ceremonies hosted by them, then I will still have one made. What for? My wedding night, it is just as historical as any other ceremony during the wedding. Oops. ;)

I just want to share a short story with everyone.

When Jibril Alaihissalam was sent to earth to meet Rasulullah SAW, Jibril mentioned, Iqra, Iqra and Iqra.

Which means, read....read... and read. I see it that Allah wants Muhammad's ummah to read continuously and acquire vast knowledge.

Therefore I always try my very best to find time to read, any type of materials, need it be books, magazine, newspapers, journals etc.

I must admit with the evolution of the internet, it seems a lot of time is spent surfing rather than reading old school books. But it doesnt matter as long as you dont stop. Just keep on reading.

Hence I must take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for not giving up on my blog. Thank you for reading it. It brings me great pleasure. May Allah bless all of you.

Why do people like to say bad things about others?

Assalamualaikum.

Salam Ramadhan, I hope everyone is well and enjoying the holy month. I know its cliche, but like others I try my best to be at my best behavior and also do good deeds and perform ibadah as much as possible. In reality I know I must do it all the time and not just Ramadhan, but at least I try.

Year in, year out, in Ramadhan I try my best to just do simple things that makes me feel better inside.

I would usually listen to all sorts of music in the car, at the office etc, but during Ramadhan, I play my Quran recital cd, n yes its recited by an Ustaz, Allah knows, I need loads more practice on my tajweed. We get pahala for just listening, what more if we read our Quranic verses. I know it sounds like I am trying to cheat, but at least people around me get to listen to it too.

Ok let's got back to my headline.

Yes..one thing there forever will be hard for a lot of people, is to stop saying bad things about others. I do complain about people too. So in this month, I try my best not too. Keep reminding myself, sabar sabar sabar.

But I am starting to wonder why, I feel like people around me just do not like it when other people achieve something more than them. Why?

I know, I would always be happy for someone else's happiness and rezeki, so why can't others be the same. Saying syukran has never hurt anyone, but why do the opposite and in return hurt those people?

Oh dear.

Yes ladies, there's a new vendor in town. I think these cake boxes are divine, its something new and out of the norm. Best of all, tailor made to suit your themes.

Truth be told, I have been wanting to share about this latest creation for awhile, but finally given the best time to do so.

What do you think? Its cute, as sometimes, its hard to put cakes on hantarans due to it being exposed. But with these cute boxes which come in 3 sizes, small, medium and large, you can choose what to fill it in with - chocs, sweets,cake slices, cookies ...etc.

Knowing He Was the One

I know some of you guys are wondering whats up with the title right?

Well suddenly, out of curiosity this got me thinking. A few weeks back, a close friend of mine, she got married but not to her fiance, but a guy she met 2 months prior to the wedding and only 3 times did they actually meet. After her wedding, I had dinner with her and obviously we were talking about the development of our relationship part of our lives. Apparently I am still playing the field. But I asked her, how did you know he was the one? You met him 3 times only before the day he lafaz akad. And she simply said "when you meet the one, your heart and head just knows".

Mind you she was not the first one to say this.. Yes, when you, you know.

But it hasn't come to me yet..

However I want you ladies to share with me, your part of the story. How did that "yakin" feeling come to you. Do share, Mashallah, how it would be a good way of sharing to others. Well yes, I am not at all ruling out to solat ishtikharah, however this is just a way to reflect moments that just come to you without you realizing it nor having any control what so ever.

Jakel Shah Alam

Good Morning Ladies

I suddenly have this cringe to share some information on my nice shopping experience with the ever famous Jakel.

To be honest, for wedding materials Jakel is like a one stop shop if u don't really feel like hopping into so many shops. Gulatis and Euro Moda have a wonderful collection, but once ur on TAR Road, you would want to roam all the shops there. I believe it is worth the energy, you are going to spend hundreds or thousands of ringgit, so walk.

A few weeks ago I was at Jakel, in search for some materials for a wedding I am to attend. I thought of treating myself to some nice materials, as it has been awhile since I updated my baju kurung collection.

So off I was at Jakel (tar) on the 3rd floor I think looking at beaded chiffons. After a lot of trying out, I ended up
with a lilac colored chiffon with some blue colored flowers.

But yesterday, my sister and our friends and I went to Jakel Shah Alam, and Mashallah the choices there are 3 times what Jakel (tar) offers.

We all comfortably sat down and let ourselves sink in all those beautiful fabric.

Oh dear, a thousand apologies again for my being missing in action.

What have I missed....

Well too much side drama in my life, however so, the world of bridal dresses have never came to a stop.

I haven't even blogged on Duchess Catherines dress yet!

Well, I just wanted to share some stuff. Remember I had such rave reviews about Ken Anwar?

Guess what, he is doing another dress for me. It should be ready in 2 weeks, have a fitting with him next week. The dress is very simple, he will just need to touche it up with some stones or what not. But his real challenge? Designing the hijab/tudung.

I cant wait to see how it will look like.

So consider the fact that this is my 2nd dress with him in such a short period of time, yes love, he is good and I actually afford this stylist+designer!

This is the dress by Ken Anwar.

It was a perfect fit, had one alteration due to my weight gain lol! Talk about the bust area ladies.. haishh...

Other than that, we both agree next time when measuring we will measure with my heels on, as I wished the dress was a little bit more longer, due to my heels since we only estimated during measurement time.

Alls well though, I am a happy customer, and also glad he made a tudung that matched with to.

Skin Care Prep

Alright my darling readers....

I want to share some tips, well its only because I trust what I use and only recommend the best and result worthy.

Everybody wants to have that glow....of course spiritually, your own inner self will be glowing..but it wont hurt to get your skin glowing too. I am blessed with normal skin, oily tzone, but I have a few acne marks here and there from yester years and also the stubborn blackheads.. I do have facials done, but honestly my job just kills time really. So I had to take matters into my own hands.

There are some products that even my friends used too coz they saw the difference it reflected on me.

Shall we start?

Himalaya's Neem Face Pack - its like taking a layer of dead skin cells off your face...works every time! I use it like 2 times a week, if I can. All you do is apply an ever layer all over skin, not too little, but be generous, and wait for it to dry, usually less than 10 mins. Then use a wet sponge to wipe it off. The price is affordable around RM 27.00, available at all pharmacies and also the Himalaya boutique.
Then I use a scrub to really scrape of the final dead skin cells, Laura Mercier's Face Polish. Just a small amount to gommage your face. No more than 2 minutes...But I really feel that my skin is so smooth after this. Previously I just used St Ives Apricot Scrub, its been in the market forever! But I stumble upon LM's and just couldn't resist to try, and in love till today. However its a tad expensive really RM 90 I think per tube. But you can just use St Ives Apricot Scrub which is a mere RM16.
Ok so now all your pores are open, so please we need to tighten them up and sealed, delivered, I'm yours.. Zain uses, St Ives Firming Clay Mask since I was 15 years old. It really is just that good! It firms up the pores. Price, RM 17 i think last i bought.
Ok...make up remover is an ESSENTIAL, coz you must get all of it OFF before you go to bed and let your skin breathe. Luckily for me, I have tried so many types of make up removers. From Shu Uemura to Loreal, Ponds, Olay...and the list goes on. I sound old right? Well the winner for me is, Neutragena Deep Clean Cleansing Lotion. My skin dramatically became softer. I never changed brands since. A steal at RM 26.50!

Lips.... I never gave it much tender love and care... Except for smacking on lip balms whenever possible. But my make up maestro introduced me to one lip balm, that I wear on before I sleep...and in the morning, ohhhh my lips are so soft like a baby's! I am not trying to be pretentious, but its so true! If you are willing to pay a lot, I must say this is worth every cent you pay. It is Bobbi Brown's Lip Balm. RM 70 if not mistaken, I bought my first, and it takes forever to finish! Coz you dont apply a lot, and its just for the lips!

Alright, this list will be edited soon to add a few more stuff, I just really need to get some beauty sleep now ;)

I must really say.....I think Ayu Raudah's wedding was very nice.. The colors, the flowers, the dresses and everything were pretty. It had a certain touch of class but yet not over the top that made you want to say bad things..

I personally like the dress above...I always thought for my own wedding, apart from the MUST white dress for nikah..I wanted to have a reception dress in a nude almost white and blush color... very subtle.... sweet... yet astonishing in a princess-y way.

And then came Reese...

she too chose a blushing pink dress to her recent wedding to Jim Toth... Its such a sweet color.

NEW DESIGNER ALERT

Hello Ladies...

Ohh... sorry that the title is all n caps....But I am more than happy to share...that even though I love Unaisah to bits and she is sooo swamped with work until the end of the year, well we have a new designer on the block.

Yes.. I did blog about him a few days ago. Yesterday, I met him to discuss a bit more on my dress as maid of honor to my best friend. He chose a great color and matched it up with a different color lining..Cant wait to see how it turns out!

the best part is it quoted a very reasonable price.. I am so pleased..Alhamdulillah, Bless him.

He was detailed with a lot of stuff and was accommodating since I wear a tudung, he put emphasis on the cuffs and the collar.

My first fitting will be in a week's time, so will tell you all about it.

Yes she is a hell of a good designer. Very sweet in persona and just so eclectic and precision in work.

I think the best part of it all is that she offers reasonable prices, and not at all over top as such couture others offers.

ok.. he is relatively very new...he has been working at some design houses...but is slowly trying to work on his own.

I made a dress with him...as i will be a maid of honor to my best friend soon. The dress is yet done, but as soon as it is, I will tell you all about it, and perhaps for those who can't make a dress with Unaisah, well we can try him instead?

I guess, to me, I know how some girls out there have a tight budget...so lets work around those means.

Its been almost more than half a year since I posted anything..

I don't know if I am not being fair to my readers...let alone be fair to myself..

I suddenly am here...thinking of just a year ago..it was January 2010.. the merisik..and 3 weeks after that, it all came to an end.

So maybe I am writing today, as a way to express that I am moving on..or at least trying..and that even though there is much anger, it made me more mature through time.

Apart of me wants to just close this down, as it pains me so much, but after all these months, I still get so many emails of which exudes gratitude and appreciation, especially on matters of the DRESS.. So, its you guys that still reminds me I still can dream.. no matter how little the dream can be.

Its such a joy to see the other lovely ladies went from a bride to a wife and then a mummy.

I need to extend my apologies, for going AWOL. I did not attend some of the weddings.. I buried myself so deep in work just to distract the head and the heart, but last November, I was hospitalized due to exhaustion and an infection. 5 days in the hospital, I realized I had to go back and start loving myself.

So my 2011 resolution, to try and start dating again.

Mind you, at this age, the single guys not so much. lol.

I want to start blogging again.. its therapeutic actually. but only if you guys will still be here and still support my oh so very shattered heart.

So we'll see how, it feels like to fall in love all over again. Inshallah, Amin.

I know, lately, I don't blog much, and when I do, its not really such good informative entries. Truth be told..work has been tough on me.

Anyways, I have some reserved thoughts. I do not mean to make it controversial. Just lets share our knowledge. 2 is better then 1. Let alone ramai di platform medium ini.

Alright.

Sometimes I feel its afdhal to have a nikah at masjid. Tambahan lg in my town area there are a few MashAllah pretty mosques.

Tapi then, i came to understand through my cousin and uncle, her nikah will be done at home, because keluarga pengantin tak nak tanggung dosa for the tetamu yg dalam kdaan tidak suci ( haid ) yg hadir di majlis akad.

Ok then we understand now, kat Masjid dah byk ada dewan kecil2 bercantum tu the mosque. Like Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan, ada hall, where ramai dah couples akad there and terbaru Serina Chef Wan. A beautiful do there. Ramai pula tetamu. So if in a hall as per se, would that be fine and considered not direct part of the mosque where we need to jaga kesucian untuk menghadap Allah.

You all know lah Zain... all about the dress and the grand nikah. hehe

Tapi we share our knowledge and understanding. Sebab hati Zain was was, keluarga fikir better just do at home. Tapi at the same time rasa akad nikah di masjid sgt gah. Nikah di rumah Allah swt.

Dewan BARU, Dewan Prima LJT

I have come to know that there is a new hall thats the talk of town. Its kind of like a Dewan Merak Kayangan remake. So they say.

Its pretty big and is like all inclusive of a lot of stuff.Johan Raja Lawak held his reception here.

I heard its pretty inside.

I know there's a big wedding on the 31st of Jan soon.

It is situated in Taman Melawati. Sounds cozy.

Food is catered by org Muar, good reviews.

Currently at RM58 per person ( but there is not extra costs of renting the dewan )

I think Pelamin and all those other stuff ada, but perhaps just the standard type.

The menu can be negotiated, hence the price could be cheaper.

You could even do a hi-tea event and other sorts. Rm58 is like a proper sit down dinner with the dome serve.

The Wedding I Wish

Ever since I was little , i knew and decided I always wanted a big MERIAH nikah ceremony.At nightfall, after maghrib...A girl can always dream right? Coz its the wajib part. I want everyone to be there and hear the guy lafaz aqad that changes our lives forever.

And reading and imagining SabSabby's akad nikah, its a lot like how I want it to be. But due to a lot of reasons, byk kene improvise. My parents( aka my mum! hehehe) has her own vision of my wedding hence I need to give and take.right?

Well there was another wedding/akad nikah. The bride did exactly how I wish I could have mine. She called everyone for the wedding and she parted the hall into 2, one side for the bride's and the other for the grooms. Once everyone is settled down and sat on the carpets with both family's facing each other, the groom walks in and his groomsmen with the hantarans. Then the kadi walks in with the grooms father and saksi.

Finally the bride walks in with her parents and bridesmaids with the hantarans.

after the nikah was the proper sit down dinner. And everyone mingled around having a good time and taking pics. So it wasnt very formal. It was fun and together.

I on the other hand understood that we will need another kenduri to have the wedding done. So I wished for a garden wedding with chiavari chairs and fresh flowers and smiling faces.owh and an awesome dessert buffet!!

So again when cruisin Sab's blog I found pics I loved. I prefer long tables really compared to round tables coz feels so clique-ish these round tables. Coz the high note is meant for everyone to mingle around.

I really hope that when my wedding comes, I get to spend time with the guests that have kindly spared their time to come and enjoy my big day.

As of this moment, we haven't yet finalized my wedding per se.

One moment its going to be a night nikah and the following day a dinner reception. Then its a morning nikah, tea party for my friends as the reception is very limited to parents friends and family.

But now, you know, knowing Zain, I always seem to brew up another fantasy lol!

I am sort of in the midst of trying to get a quote for another venue. Not really popular but I will sort of give me the starry eyed do I dream. Hopefully the prices they charge aren't too pricey.

I feel bad watching the ruins of Haiti on tv. :(

But today I have to go to the office. Now.

A lot of major amendments to work out for a series of major presentations next week.

Mum is upset. Marah and suruh ambil MC coz she wants everything to be very put together for tomorrow.

However so I can't let the team at the office down just for my being selfish.

so the deal is...super short time today at the office no more then 4 hours.

Then head of to mum's tailor pick up the stuff ( i am not so sure what exactly ) and to Aunty's also pick up something. Then home.

Hope my lil bro comes back from uni. Need him to arrange some carpets and some other heavy lifting stuff.

I don't feel chirpy anymore.

Remember how I am so hooked on Erra Fazira' dress and look during her akad to E.Emran? Well I have always contemplated, whether to wear a normal chiffon tudung with no hard board thingy to keep things in place, so that nak batalkan air sembahyang, he could kiss the forehead and not hit anything. Tapi Erra's tudung keras was so pretty MasyaAllah. I even started to want to save up and tempah a nice tudung from Sri Munnawarah.. Poyo pula rasa...hehe

Until, I found out there are a few specialised designers in the pretty bling bling tudungs with awnings they say.

Gatal tangan dah ni nak try tempah tudung for engagement.

Dress 1 by Unaisah Azlan

Alright.

After all the mess I made having so many entries just about dresses...Well finally, I have one dress safely sent to my ooh la la dressmaker designer, Unaisah Azlan.

I met her last week, before my trip to Jakarta. As shared by Ms X, Unaisah greeted me with a smile from her owh syukur such a big bungalow in Shah Alam. She works from home. She has a cute studio as her working space in her house.

She is nice and was equipped with ideas, she took in account all the stuff I told her bout my body and what I prefer. We had to make some changes because I want to accommodate what my mum wants for the dress too! I went alone, coz they say, unless its off the rack, and you have your own ideas for your dress go alone, cause it'll be hard when you hear so many other voices talking!

hehe

So I want to share with you the final sketches that I took home to show to mum and for her endorsement obviously.. Well I have to keep her happy.

I cut it out and pasted it on my lil black wedding book..Owh..I love that she made the sketches on a full bodied woman...some do it so stick thin!

Well, to keep you guessing my dress is one of the above.

Its going to be made from peach pink satin and white french lace with pink beadings..

My first fitting is later in January..

I am so glad Miss X shared me bout Unaisah and Studio Twenty 6.

I was at the Gardens yesterday...and I saw these jeweled shoes...at Robinsons... They are on sale currently for RM159.90.. Just in case there are any brides on the look out for shoes to glam up you W dress!

I know its pricey to have them custom made... Unless you try PKNS Shah Alam.

I had the pleasure of stopping by Great Eastern Life Mall on Ampang Street..

And I actually found out there is a Thomas Chan boutique there. Its really famous now, since they are super good at making really high heels thats still meant to be good for your foot, back and posture.

I asked in, you can make them in any color of leather or you can bring in you materials to match your dress.

However so, its a bit pricey, starting from RM300++..

I thought, if ada duit lebih saved up, I could do one pair here..one for sanding where I have to stand up all through out.

Will need to get more info from sab about the PKNS shoemaker and also from my mum, since there is someone that makes shoes for her school stuff..

Pasar Tebet & Jati Negara Jakarta

Another 2 places I wanted to go so much but did not have the time, were Pasar Tebet and Jati Negara.

PASAR TEBET

This is the place where all the nice invitation cards are made. You know those cards that are hardcover and kinda like a book, well they can go as cheap as equivalent to rm1.80 here. But note, you will need to go again to pick em up or have them delivered with a hefty price but still cheaper then having them done home.
The Malaysians living in Jakarta said, its only cheap if you do the hardcover ones, if for the normal slim cards, you could have them done here for a fair price. Tapi Pasar Tebet is the king of places to have done. I think puas hati for you to go if you really want to do that type of invitation cards.

Try limit time here, coz you will want to spend time at other places too!

JATI NEGARA

Alright, again the Malaysians living in Jakarta said, Jati Negara is where they go to buy doorgifts/ favors. Because this is where they sell more artsy crafty tradiotional Indonesian stuff. A friend of ours bought 300 of those kipas embroidary at Jati Negara, in two colors, pink and white. If tak silap its around RM2 each.
They say its worth a look if you really want to get souvenirs or favors.

I am sorry I cant share too much, I really wanted to go, tapi tak ada kesempatan.

Mangga Dua Jakarta

They say, you haven't been to Jakarta if you don't go to Mangga Dua.

So due to so many stuff and places my parents needed to go, on our way to the airport, we had to decide, either Pasar Tebet or Mangga Dua. Dad and I wanted to go to Pasar Tebet, coz we knew time was too short to pusing2 in Mangga Dua, so whats the whole point buat sakit hati je. We voted Pasar Tebet.

In the end we went to Mangga Dua. Why? Coz mama said so.hahaha

So I took out my Diah Manual of wedding shopping in Jakarta, and said I wanted to go to Kikie's shop.

One prob, we didn't know which mangga dua it was in. There is at least 3 huge mangga dua malls...they have names like Mangga Dua ITC...Mangga Dua ATM..something of that sort...So we were in the older mangga dua.. MashAllah...ramai sgt orang..really ramai..

So stuff brides can buy here

accessories like for your hair, and tiaras and for your flower girls..cantik2 and murah lah... i saw this really nice big brooch that you can pin to your tudung, like most brides have done, around 95k rupiah..

Sadly enough we only stayed here for 20mins...Dad got dizzy coz people were like squished against each other, we could barely look at stuff.

Unless you have the whole day to spend and roam mangga dua, yes its a safe bet, but if you are strict with time, head to MD, be assertive and be sure of what you want to buy. Then you can save time.

My two cents of advice, nak kasi dua ringgit nye, was not there long enough. Btw, sini kawasan jam teruk sbb everyone is here.

Tanah Abang & Mayestik Jakarta

Alright...

A lil more of Jakarta.

Before I say more, I want to share that, if I were to do it all again, I would do it the same, go to Tanah Abang as early as 7.30 ( you cant imagine the traffic jam ), and stay there till noon-ish, then move on to Mayestik. Why?

Well mainly its because there is SO MANY people at Tanah Abang even though its 10 stories tall and super crazy big, its just too much, so start early when there arent a lotta people.

And my favorite reason is, coz I can jamak Zuhur and Asar at Mayestik, at Mumbay tekstil ( the one thats 3 stories high ) they have a small place to solat with tempat ambil wudhu and its clean enough for me, in those circumstances...rasa tenang, nak menghadap Allah SWT. Coz I did not feel the rush.

Ok now in terms of fabric.

MAYESTIK

Lace, my mum bought a lot at Mumbay Tekstil Besar ( 3 tingkat ) the more you buy the better discount.
All in all, the shantung at Mumbay Besar had the most range of colors and as cheap as 14,000 rupiah per meter and it has better quality. My dad commented this.
Ok now for polos the best for my mum and I was in Mumbay Tekstil Kecil ( this one was on the other side and its just 1 floor). as chiffon polos we could get for 9,000 rupiah...thats really really cheap..and tis good enough for lining..my mum is really fussy so this was good enough for her.Note : Polos is material for lining.
Silk Route (Diahs favorite) is closer to Tokyo Tekstil is situated to on the way for all cars exit gate. This store has a lot more fancier designs..But its limited in choices compared to Mumbay Besar. Cuma plus point this store has more fancier choices.
There is this store across Silk Route, that doesnt really have a name as much as I can recall. Well they sell a lot of loose pieces of french lace, so they say, its nice though..and had lovely designs... my mum bought normal lace ( dual colors ) that I chose at first but later she bought for her and my sis to wear during my nikah..free2 my nikah now has a baby blue and lilac theme! lol Best part was, the lace was only 150.000 per meter...It was nice needless of how crazy low the price was. So its a safe bet to try and go into those small little stores without names, coz they sell certain stuff cheaper.
Ok back to polos again if you want to buy good not so keras satin for lining, don't go to Mumbay Kecil, get it at Mumbay Besar or those small shops with no names. Coz they sell at 15,000 per meter where as at Mumbay Kecil and Silk Route sells same quality but at 20,000 per meter. I know its hard to buy lace at one place and lining at the other, but if you are gonna buy a lot, those 5k rupiah per meter makes a difference!
We bought lace for all my aunts at Mumbay Besar. Half of the satin lining we bought at here too, but there was not enough of the same pink peachy color, so my mum got the rest of the lining at Mumbay Kecil but its not satin its the chiffon time, coz she says the material is more cooling. ( cheaper too )
All the materials for all my uncles baju melayu was bought at Mumbay Kecil, but its not chiffon obviously, but due to the need of pink peach color, we bought them all here. Remember the width are mostly in 60" so its larger then the usual.
My mum and sis lace and lining for my sanding were all bought at Silk Route.

BRIDESMAIDS

Ok way before I left, the girls and I decided that we want to do it just like Niki did hers, chiffon top and songket for the sarung.We thought lace would be to glamorous to wear again on other occasions except dinner weddings.
But its not that easy to get the precise color. And I was frustrated coz I was hoping to get it in Mayestik. But all the indian lace were of garang color and they were 50k for a sarung and selendang. I only wanted the sarung.
But we went to Silk Route and they had some Indian Songket of a similar color. And were nice enough to want to sell it to me for 10,800 per meter. So we just took it...but only got 6 meters! But then dad's colleague said its ok, I think we could get some in Tanah Abang. So we just got the sarung not top yet.
The 2nd day we went to Tanah Abang... after a lot of searching we found this store at the very end belakang2 most bottom floor in Tanah Abang, called RANI TEX, the aunty was Indian and her name is Anmol. They had all sorts of colors of songket...I fell in love. They had peach colored songket and when asked how much they could give me for a meter, she said 15k, and I was like...but I need 20 meters...and mum was pushy bunga2 too, wanting a fair discount, she said ok, 12k per meter...terus i said bisa potong NOW!
Next the top. I wanted a simple chiffon top, but mum said, it seems hard to get the exact color we want, could we just go for satin for last resort.. I was ok, I don't want to make it hard on my parents and all the other people with us. But at Rani Tex mum found this nice lace, with colorful small flowers around it and they had them in so many types of colors. But it was pricey...Mum pushed and beg and all that, and lastly Aunty Anmol cut of like 30k of the price since we were taking so much.
Then we went to the Busana muslim floor 8, and got all those kain telekung or Mukana they call it and some other stuff as souveneirs. After Tanah Abang at 12.30 we went to eat Nasi Padang at Garuda then off to Pasar Ular, parents had some stuff to buy.
4pm back at Mayestik for the 2nd time to finish off what we still did not buy. Mayestik closes at 6.30.
The next time I go, I will head to Rani Tex again and Mayestik of course.

note, its always a safe bet to try and hunt at tanah abang too...even though they say mayestik has the fanciest...Tanah abang sell some similar stuff, but at a cheaper price then mayestik.. but not all. hence always look around first....have a good feel of the choices and the range of prices..dont pull a "mum" and bought a lot at the first store she went too!

Salam...

Oh my....i surely have not blogged in a long time.

Alhamdulillah, we made it safe back to Malaysia from Jakarta. And Mashallah, it was the best.

Firstly, I hope everyone is doing great.

Secondly, I want and need and must go back to Jakarta. It wasnt until I got back to the hotel that I started wishing I had bought more of this and that.

I would assume, you all thought I would have bought myself a lot of stuff..

Apparently, I did not.

What I managed to get were

Kain for the bridesmaids
Kain for all aunts
Kain for all uncles
Kain for curtains
Kain for the scallop for stairs or whatever you call it
Kain for mama to wear at my nikah and sanding
Kain for my sister to wear at my nikah and sanding

Well it wouldnt be complete with a spa treatment right?

Yes I tried it, again Mashallah, it was all so cheap.Imagine, mandi lulur, steambath, creambath, facial and hair treatment was all equivalent to RM65!

Food wise, it was good, I tried nasi Padang, nasi lauk Tebet, makanan Sunda and of course A Fung Baso!!

Oh, to top it off, Es Teler...its a hit with mum and I.

We stayed at Aston Rasuna. and I recommend it, because, we sort of are (Alhamdulillah), foreign enclave and their ( my parents ) colleagues at the Malaysian Embassy arranged for us to stay there, as its closest to the Malaysian Embassy in case of anything you can walk. Rates for a 2 room apartment is RM240. Very reasonable. It has a mini market and guardian downstairs, complimentary breakfast and tight security. Blue Bird taxis are always in line for guests.The good thing also is that the spa Swarga Spa, is in house and when we came back after 7ish, (thats when Tanah Abang and Mayestik and all the other pasars are closed), I straight booked a spa session, hence I did not have to schedule time during the day, as this spa closes at 10pm, meaning save day time for shopping.

I hope everyone has had a good start to this year.

I am so happy as mine did.

MashaAllah....I am so blessed by Allah SWT...

Midday today my parents and I went to the place for my wedding reception...Alhamdulillah, it was all good. Only now, Qaem's side is requesting for change of dates..earlier..and hence no more available dates...so parents and I are hoping for a silver lining.. Tetapi deep inside...my heart says its okay if we need to postpone it later just so we could have the reception there..coz I know my parents are so happy to have it there..any other place is not really an option.. I think I have grown more mature..I want to be a mature bride with the right thinking...not just forcing it all to have it my way.

and then...my parents just need to give me the cherry on top of the cake..

later on we were at the jewelers to fixate Qaem's ring and butang baju melayu..

but then later we stopped by to go get dad's baju melayu..and best of all, we went on to my rated UpScale designer's boutique, and had some sketches done and we are set to get the fabrics and materials soon.

Ya Allah, thank you so much, I can never be grateful enough..

I just wanted to share about one Make Up artist that is quite popular among my working community. She is slowly building up her name.. and she is trained by none other then Saidatulnisa and Liza.... yeah the 2 famous make up artists now..

She just did a close friends make up for nikah and sanding..

Her prices are very reasonable, she starts from RM400 (Wedding) for hair and make up, but if you take her for like 2 sessions ( nikah + sanding ), then you could negotiate for a fair discount..Her prices are different according to the events..

She is extremely nice and beautiful too.

She is also very punctual. I remember last weekend she had a nikah session to do, the nikah was at 9am...But she was at the brides house way before 7. She has good work ethics. I am not just like promoting here..I just hear good reviews from around work. So perhaps any brides or if u just need some professional touch up for engagements/ dinner, could give this a try.

Tina uses a mixture of MAC, Kryolan and yes, Dermacos...that special foundation, that lasts like forever...really long lasting full coverage...just like Saidatulnisa uses... InsyaAllah one day, Tina will master the skill and be just as good as her gurus..

and I am still wondering of materials to buy for the tandang.. I know its Qaems side...but I am the one wearing it...so I want to have a say in it.*tamakkah??

anyhow...

I want to share the design that I have been wanting for this dress..

well obviously I will need to make it a lil more Muslimah...but its the lace....and the mermaid cutting...i just love it so much...

But is appropriate? Does it go with a Malay wedding?

I plan to make it more towards a creamish color.. make it look really old school glam with pearls...

Yes...I am sorry.. My dressobsessed phase continues..

If you refer to my post titled The Deal, you will catch a snippet of my engagement dress materials. I will now call this dress, Dress 1, as its the first dress of the series of dress I am fantasizing about.

Today I was lucky to be in contact with the dressmaker designer that will do my Dress 1. Told her all I could..my heigh, my weight, my bustline and my flat behind too! She will sketch and InsyAllah before Xmas I will meet up with her to go into details. Super excited! Alhamdulillah, this much is true and well.

Well I finally just had the guts to share to her about Dress 2. Dress 2 is a surprise, as I sort of designed it myself, muse me of the runway!

I shared with her the sketch...and was so worried it might be to weird for her considering she is a certified designer.. But she was excited and still figuring out certain part of the dress at the same time. I told her I had no clue the exact materials to buy and need her consultation on that for me to get the materials in jakarta..

I think she is as excited as I am now.Alhamdulillah...

Can't wait to coffee coffee with her.

I am so tired of work..and sleepy..but honestly..blogging here makes me somewhat overjoyed...and I am over the moon when people drop comments too. Thank you so much.Syukran.

I really need you to share your info.

I always heard 50% of people say its not advisable to give Al-Quran as a hantaran. And the other 50% say its a good thing to give as hantaran...

I specifically asked Qaem to give me a beautiful kain sembahyang/telekung as my nikah hantaran. I want to keep it forever and insyAllah, solat diterima and Qaem pun dpt pahala sikit2.. I sort of wish I could get an Al-Quran too. Its not nice to have all hantarans to be mainly bout duniawi...We have to show respect for the afterlife..Need to balance everything...Most of all start my new life with Qaem with the right steps...

I remember one of my aunty being so persistent not letting our family members exchange Quran as hantaran..but I never really heard her reasons out..

The deal

I have had a pretty rough week..its been tough....when you are tested with so many matters at one time..and your heart breaks a little.

All in all... I suddenly feel like it doesnt matter anymore....what type of wedding I have....as long as I get to be with Qaem...the way Allah wants...the way Rasulullah would be proud of...

its just that.. I keep thinking of the days to come after the wedding...its life together...

so I will leave it to mum and dad to decide..them giving me a wedding is more then enough to ask for... I have to remember the orphans out there...who don't have parents to provide the way anyone would want..

we must remember...it does not take millions to make people smile at your wedding...it just needs your smile, and they shall do so in return..

but i still have one bad habit...I STILL WANT THE PERFECT DRESS....ish....why can't i wasatiah on this...shame on me...

but...I too have been in contact with Unaisah Azlan....hoping to get my engagement dress done with her..

My engagement won't be elaborate...it'll be as simple as simple could be..

no pelamin...just a bed spread on the bed...and hopefully Qaem's mum will come in sarung cincin..and then we eat..InsyaAllah..and it will be closest family members only.... very small...its just to tanda...

we still don't have a date on the engagement...but hopefully ample enough time for me to lose em weight!!

Their family will be coming over soon to discuss dates...so basically the engagement next year is merely a mean to fulfill adat. But still I dont want to runaway from a day where i have every right reason to dress up kan??

on yesterday....on Qaem's mum's request...he brought me over to bangsar...to one of the nice jewelry stores ( apparently both out mums go to the same place for special occasions) and he asked me to show a couple of rings that I liked...I like one in particular...but it will be up to him and his mum...They went today to decide..

In normal circumstances...I would keep reminding him that I really like one in particular...but lately..Allah has taught me to be more appreciative of everything..it doesn't really matter anymore.. as long as Qaem is happy..and its very ikhlas...anything he choses will be more then I could hope for.

We also popped into Pavi...just to check out the sale...saw some items...hantaran worthy.. and affordable. Will wait a lil later...to buy...dengan izin Allah..

But what I do know..I want to copy Sab.. I want to give out chocolate dates during my nikah....( i hope you dont mind!!)

umm...I think all the mixed feelings inside of me has made me at lost of words..even on my blog....so unusual..

but don't worry...

Its the 1st of Dec.

I had a really bad day. That I cried 3 times. I am upset beyond words.

But now I am home. Trying to not think..

And here it is on E!, the wedding of Bill Rancic and Giuliana DePandi. I am such a fan of them both..

Bill gave her a beach rehearsal dinner..and they all watched the sunset..

and then when saying vows....she cried..

it was a beautiful wedding..they all walked down the piazza...

I am still trying to cheer myself up.

I remember my first time stumbling on the bride to be blogs...

My first was Sab's...I found it very warm...

I continued reading..and found out that she plans to have all her outfits in a kurung fashion..

and over the weekend I saw some friends marry...and one in particular..wore white songket kurung for her nikah and a full lace kurung for her sanding..its beautiful and timeless..

Suddenly I thought...oooh timeless is nice too...

so DEAR SAB, your choice is perfect!

isnt it just sweet simple and timeless??? Umm....Mula la ni my head....coming up with other options! ( dress deciding will be the hardest!)

Here is another pic of a friend who just had her akad...She was so pretty...It;d make you cry!

I find the short veil very great fashion statement and also timeless...tapi...I wear a tudung...would it be sesuai??

Ok..and then there is this bride...she did like a jubah type...but something bout the whole ensemble thats very elegant...I quite like this too...( this is my friend's friend)

I think its a wonder why I have not touched base at all regards to my wedding decorations.. Where as its very much an essential.

Why?

I am afraid of the price tag. Obviously decorations are so expensive and the prettier it gets, the heavier our cheque$$$ becomes..
Everything is too beautiful how could you ever choose... ( I mean look at my GaGaness over wedding dresses!!)
My house is relatively small due to mum's extensive interior....and the garden is hilly,slopey...so kind of hard to fit in a canopy.
still afraid of the price tag...and no I am not that stingy..just cam trying to save what I can.

But HOW COULD I NOT LOVE CHIAVARI CHAIRS?????????? have been in love with them before I fell in love with Edward Cullens.....( new moon fever...i am not sure how long this will take)

and then I tumbled upon this picture....and my hearts sealed!

This is by Khareyan Events. They specialize in rental of canopies, chairs etc...I just emailed them for a quote...hope its....affordable. In that sense, where its still ideal and I don't feel guilty.

* I also admire our fellow blogger Niki. Her home akad event was very much something I had in mind.. Intimate.

now if you darlings could kindly share me other options..so I can have a good survey on prices.. I know that serambi kaseh does this setting but I have not yet located any blogs or webs of them. Alright...

My brother...yes my brother made it a tradition that we 3 siblings will always watch the Twilight Saga movies together before we watch it with anybody else...yes all 3 of us love the book...right after we graduated from Harry Potter.

So here it is ...3.35am...we just got back after watching a midnight show..( my bro got the tickets...he couldnt wait for daylight, he had to get the earliest tickets possible) WE LOVED IT. yes the whole time we were fighting coz my bro is TEAM JACOB and I of course am TEAM EDWARD...i kept saying...Jacob...watak tak perlu..hahaha

I don't wana give away any details...

But I want to share...that since later, Bella & Edward get married, all the top designers in the states are designing her dress...guess which one will win the part!

Have you ever watched Sex and the City the Movie? Well i just love the part where Carrie gets to try on all those lovely wedding dresses for the photoshoot...and they played Ciara's Click Click Flash Flash in the background.. I sowant to get caught in that moment..

So this entry will be about Qaem and myself's personal choices for wedding photography.. Apparently if you want the good ones you need to book them earlier to.. ( and I thought a year of planning is sufficient!)

On the bright side of it...My Uncle Teh is an avid photographer too but he's into scenery and he is in some association too.

His advice was

Its your wedding day, go for a photog with a name, establishment. Yes there are a lot of talent out there..But you only have one wedding. You can't re-do a wedding.Hire a pro, as they don't want to mess up their name too. It might be pricey but it would be worth it.
Analyse their previous work, and look for a photog that doesn't focus on just faces, the bouquet, finger photo ( u know those hearts lah, those frames bride and groom put fingers together)..
Look for a photog that captures the moment with everything around to be the subject...
Don't go for more than RM3500 for a package. ( nikah, sanding, tandang >> post/pre wed is complimentary usually).
Be careful, for big names, make sure you get THAT NAME to do the clicking...not sending their juniors.
Discuss lighting beforehand with photog. Let them have a good idea.
Never sound desperate to them...make sure they know...there are plenty of other options.
Its ok if they don't print a lot out...coz printing on your own is cheap too.

Salam...

I took a day off today...to relax...and clean up the house for raya tomorrow. I am the one responsible at home now..So I have to do the right thing. Well I also booked a facial session too!

I think by now, who ever reads my blog, would realize the ever so apparent fact that I am very dress-obsessed.
In full, the most thought of aspect in my wedding has been the dresses I wear. Its not that I am your typical stereotype lass, I just was brought up by parents to always wear according to the situation and to always be confident what you wear and how you carry yourself.

So again I share you my google geology findings.

and finally, one that I like the tudung and veil style..

Since my offwhite chiffon for akad nikah is pretty fully beaded...I thought maybe I could do a simple do but have a detailed tudung and veil..

I find the mini train cute...but still considerate to the whole baju kurung concept.

The Plan

Ok..

I just had to write this.. I couldn't contain it inside anymore...

For formality, Qaems family will come over towards the end of Dec to discuss with mum and dad the details of dates and plans..

Then a lil into 2010, earliest April if not May, a small engagement will be held..nothing big..its meant to be intimate...but my dress needs to make me pretty..itll be the 1st time I meet Qaems extended family..

So later on the year only...we'll be officially man and wife..InsyAllah..

I always wanted a grand akad ceremony...but now, i have to give and take..cause mum and dad want a nice reception/kenduri tooo....

Knowing my relatives..how they book everything as early as possible...( one at Felda Perdana was book 1 year and 3 months before!!) I contacted a few for quotations.. But there is one place my parents love...
Believe me if dad likes it and says it...then it has to be good.

So I emailed a week ago..and fortunately, they were coming to our office to meet other people, hence decided to meet me after....

and today...tadaaaa... I meant 2 event planners for that certain venue... they gave me a folder...and shared all they could...I understood better of their offer..and alhamdulillah..the date I want is still available...I think the price is just nice.. It appears pricey..but it comes together with other things to...decorations, dais, pillars etc..so in the end..its kinda like the same if you hold it at home..cuma you pay everything to separate people that it doesnt seem like you are blowing it all off at once..

But however so, i won't be able to invite everyone I believe...hence if there's any extra money..perhaps I will do a low key garden party too for those I cant invite.... ( perasan tak??) Its not that I dont want too..but for the reception... I have to prioritize mum and dad's friends...as its really all about them..

I want them to be happy.

Owh....I suddenly feel happy...

Why?

well, firstly coz I have more info of the bridal dress making industry in malaysia..

a dear friend introduced me her dressmaker/designer.... A Miss Newly, but she has talent..So I thought of getting my engagement dress done first..

then...cherry it on top, my friend from work introduced me to her designer..pretty famous.. and price range is wholesome...as in affordable but worth every penny but still not cut throat but still got a name tagged to it..

So.... umm....I have a few dressmakers/designers on my list...

which one exactly will get to do the works for my big day...we'll watch it unfold....cehh....budget project runway!!!!

when its all put together i shall post PROJECT BRIDEWAY...

Qaem is out of town... I miss him.. tadi I stopped by the Ferragamo sale...saw a few items, good bargain, but will wait for him to be back...if he likes then I will get one.. I thought...beli sikit2...lama2 nanti tak terasa sgt nak buy all at once.. * believe me its not crazy priced..thats why I stilll can afford..kesian Qaem..he saved a lot for the wedding..so I know the hantarans are what makes him so excited...I dont want to disappoint him..

Updates Jakarta

First of all....Alhamdulillah..my parents safely made it to Mekah...syukur...syukur..syukur..

secondly I am exhausted...as their were so many guests over at the house..and its dire mess...that even my siblings offered to all help clean up..

but most of all....syukur sgt...coz Qaems family will come risik2 once parents are back...perhaps Awal Muharram nanti.. set all drama aside...Ya Allah, mudahkan lah jalan jodohku.. andai ini yg terbaik, dekatkanlahku dgn dia.

well...last weekend I sort of did this emotional post...which i later removed..Sorry..I felt that it was posted in anger and frustration...nanti I will do a seperate post to explain what not and suggest/advise all u sweethearts out there the darkside of jalan tar!

next up is... my Jakarta Trip towards the end of Dec...

What I planned so far

Must go to Mayestik for fabric...will badly need to persuade dad
Must go to Tanah Abang coz both parents keep saying it
Must go to Mangga Dua
Must get materials for reception both side ( need to further discuss with Qaem )
Must get fabric for bridesmaids
Must get spa works done on this body no wonderland plus face too
Must get materials for the family

Ok...what else am I missing?? Umm..well we are now not sure yet Ibis Arcadia or Ibis Mangga Dua..Boleh takkkkkk belum boook...

Oh.....

I know I keep complaining...but I am so tired! Dah lah today ada fire drill kat pet twin towers...selamat all 10k staff turun tangga all the way from like 80th floor!

i miss blogging...but i really havent the time lately..and its made me daydream also bout my wedding..will need to update more bout it..

but for now...I wanna talk bout the dais..

first of all, as you may come to understand..i want the akad nikah to be perfect...coz itu yg wajib..

and since my mum has a lot of say and want her way...i just want to control most of the akad nikah session..

therefore it has come to the dais part..

ever since 16 I remember going to a wedding at a nice hotel...but they had a duduk bersimpuh dais..and I loved it...but mama thinks raja sehari must have the throne like...so my classiq simpuh was rejected...but then ada nikah...

loved this one...i wana sit there and stare into his eyes...and not care bout anything else...

This one is sweet...its white..and at the same time its almost like a love seat...it doesnt really look like ur on the floor but u still need to sit simpuh style... the one the royals, zara and Raja nazrin had were sit on the floor like..

Oh dear....I have missed writing or blogging for that matter...really demotivated with work right now.... sakit hati pun ada....ish...

ok...so now I am slowly buliding my jakarta list...

so far a lot of darlings suggested and highly recommend to go to mayestik...for french lace...

now i wana get some material for bridesmaids...we all wana look alike..well exclude me of course..

i have also given much thought on veils..

umm...my white chiffon kurung ( still stuck on the modern kurung ) well i was wondering what to pair it with.. a net lacey veil...or chiffon veil?? wat say you sweet hearts?

i quite liked how simple but sweet Anil Lutaze looked in her chiffon kurung and chiffon veil....but i also admire those kinda elaborate but not to much lace net type of veils...

i know many bought their veils in jakarta...is that becoz its cheaper and they have ready made??

Hot Mess

Oh.....crap...*excuse my french..hehe..

I have never had this bad of 2 weeks in my working life.... Immense Pressure......

and before this...if i had any bad stress...i wud just think of my wedding..and it will all be like okay for a minute or two...but this time...I didnt even have time for that!

I just remembered, my parents and I have tickets to go to Jakarta next month. We are not sure whether we should make a short trip to Bandung as well.. We have never been to neither places...Hence so not sure what to do nor expect.

Please share.. I know that if in Jakarta, we should go to Tanah Abang coz thats where all the nice materials.. ( looking for french lace and materials for the family and bridesmaids and usherers )....

We might also need to get more favors...

If everything is sufficient to get in Jakarta and the choices are more or less the same, then we will stick to Jakarta...if its worth going to Bandung, then we shal try go there..

But please do share your experience or info..

Back to reality...Owhhhhh I hate the fact that work can be so stressful... kadang terlalu risau tentang kerja... tp usaha untuk akhirat pun tak jaga, wrong also...

Do you wish to stay young, healthy, rich & immortal? If you desire these things, you won't find it in this world. You can however, in the Life of Hereafter. Allah has decreed misery and impermanence for this world. God called life a trifle & enjoyment of deception.

There is a well-known poet from a really long time ago, who for the greater part of his life lived a life of penury. In the prime of his youth, he wanted money but couldn't get it. He wanted a wife too, but he failed in that pursuit as well.
However, when he became old, with white hair and brittle bones, he became rich. Women were all willing to marry him and he had a comfortable life.
The irony of his story is that he was "poor" when he was able to enjoy all comforts and that he became rich when he could no longer enjoy the pleasures of life.

He composed these verses in the latter part of his life :

"What I desired to own when I was only twenty,

Came into my possession after turning eighty.

Young Turkish girls now surround me,

Singing and wearing silks & jewels.

They say ' your moans keep us awake all night long, so what is it that you complain of?

I said,' Of being an octogenarian".

To whom ever who reads this, means you have the privilege to the internet, meaning your life is somewhat alright. Imagine people in Africa? they don't even have clean water let alone worry of updating facebook and twitter. We all just gotta keep being grateful.

To my own self, its okay whatever I drive, coz that is a pleasure then those who don't afford to do so,its okay to just wear Rimmel then MAC ( as if you can tell??)ok..I admit Avons more affordable,its ok to eat at mamak maju than Madam Kwans,to eat Paddle Pop and not Ben & Jerry's,to be tan than to be fair white,and finally to walk down Ikea aisles with (one-day-it-might-be)' him in sneakers and a rock tshirt', its all okay.

Because everyday I have to be super grateful to God, for giving me this life, if I ever dare think this is bad, I must remember it could have been a lot more worse.

I am planning my engagement dress.

One problem I am dwelling inside...what color and design.. I have narrowed down to 2 designs.

But still flinchin over colors...Peach..Pink..Nude..

Well i really like the Pales to..Pale Pink and Pale Peach..almost like nude.. Reason being these are the colors that best bring out my complexion..But again..I think Peach is best for all ladies...needless color of complexion..its just soft and bright..

Dina's Collection> Anyone ever hired her services????

I was in IOI Puchong..the mall..and whilst heading to crocs, realised there was a butik..called Dina Collections. I walked in...the place sold some collections of clothes and at the window were a collection of pretty bridal wear...her designs were more into Indonesian Kebayas...I was given a brochure...they did pelamins.. make up..a lot of the works.. hence I wanted to know more..

The SA said prices start at 1k for made to measure orders with shoes and a veil.. But Dina was not in to go into deeper details hence the SA asked me to come visit again or give Dina a call to arrange a meeting..

Was wondering if anyone else has ever used her services??

Dress Distress

I have been so busy with work..which I hate...coz it makes me sooo tired.. anyways.. I just came back early today and had high hopes...of blogging before I have to do work again..some stuff just never go away..

Refering to the title...I sort of am in a dilemma.

Well I really sholdnt be as I am not engaged yet. But my parents are off to Mekah soon.. and due to some other complicated circumstances, we think best to get engaged early nex year... InsyAllah by end of year, we shall tie the knot. InsyAllah, enough time to prepare everything.. We don't want to be engaged too long..lets keep it short and sweet.

I remember the day, I told mum that Qaem and I plan to marry, she was excited.. and the weekend next, while we were at Jakel to get materials for jubah and other stuff, mama went ahead and bought off white beaded chiffon, the whole package..planned for a nikah outfit..

You see...i had it planned out... since I saw my good friend nikah in a white baju kurung moden...I thought it looked just simple but perfect.. so it was set...kurung moden for nikah, white with some silverish details on a floor grazing kebaya and finally off-white near cream lace mermaid cut modest dress... Qaem preferred these colors too..

However Qaem's mum secretly had her plans too... she wanted us in light purple near lilac...hence..now ( a lil heartbroken if not a lot..lol!) I cant make the mermaid dress...coz it has to be lace and white...warna lain..tak sesuai...for me..whats important is the design of the dress...this is the only time I will be able to try pull off something not my norm..

I started thinking maybe I could do the mermaid dress for akad nikah..tp mum already bought this chiffon...and well when we tried to mannequin it..and then I realised...the beading was to heavy for a baju kurung moden...

ok here are pics...check it out...

Or do u think with this fabric I can still pull off the mermaid dress or the floor grazing kebaya?? Like the one Erra Fazira and Zara Salim wore for their akad nikahs?

Please share with me what you all think.. I know its just easy to go see a designer and leave it up to them to design.. but I still want to plan first..coz still savin up $$ for design fees..hehe

Oh...one more thing...for my engagement, I thought I wana go it on my own..design it all, go buy the fabric, and send it to my personal tailor...and need be add beads or so with another lady I know.. will share you the designs once I can start drawing better..

Theme & Colors

Weddings are synonym to WHITE... white dress..settled.

but then I remembered when a friend of mine asked.. so whats your theme wedding....I was like..there has to be a theme? bukan Malay Muslim wedding tu dah kire theme?

so...you have the color of flowers...chair covers,.. canopy.. pelamin.. the wedding invites... and the favors..

so i have 3 vice colors.. white black pink... my whole wardrobe exists of these colors..

so I would think pink for the flowers...but for chairs too..mcm pink sgt. i always wanted a mix of a few colors..

so i thought engagement nanti i want to wear peach pink kurung or kebaya labuh... and perhaps with white flowers of lace around the hem and cuff.. I know I suck at detailed explainations.. but when it gets more real I will share all bout it.

so the plan... nikah...sanding & tandang.. can I be allowed to wear just white, off white or a creamish color..please?

Well I really enjoy keeping up with SabSabby's blog, WLT, Ms X and others..its coz of you darlings that made me even want to brideblog..I always thought magazines would teach me a lot...but you guys are Wiki-wicked!

So lastnite I commented on Ms X blog bout harga designers and as such.. I mentioned bout a designer, Jeffriey Ibrahim.. Heard he has an impressive cv learning the ropes of the designing world..

First heard of him coz a friend in Brunei had a friend who actually had Jeffriey do her nikah dress.. I liked the oldschool kinda feel of it so from then on continued to search more bout him.

For Ms X here are a pic or 2 of his work. I hope its ok that I put this..( Jeff & Iman > hope u dont mind )

Love the simple lace yet its so breathtakingly put together..all the way to the cuffs..

These 2 pics sorta got me hooked.. Or am I just to into simplicity...?

Bride Side Dress

Off all things... Brides will always fret over the dress.. you wanna wear the dress.. the perfect dress to exuberate the big day. logic calls, at every wedding, guests all want to just stare at the bride..and gasp. You know you want that effect..

There are just soooo many designs.. from traditional to contemporary to sexy to conservative..and then you have some brides who do those multiple changes..

Myself.... ooh..tough call too I must say.. but from a lot of dresses I have seen, there was one in particular that got me hooked for almost 5 years now..

Yes...remember this Wedding of the Year, Datin Norjuma? Well I just loved this dress worn during her Berinai Ceremony.. designed none other by Radzuan Razwill.. Kudos to you RR, this was perfect.

So from all those years ago, I decided, when I get married, I want to wear this dress design. obviously not the exact, this is couture! lol.. but InshaAllah, my doa will makbul, and I get to wear somethings similar and just as sweet.

So from this dress, which i call the Kebaya Grace, actually coz its like a Kebaya Floor grazing dress...a new evolution started..

Now I personally love Erra & Royal Zara's Nikah dresses..it a lil less heavier looking then Datin Norjuma's but its the shimmery glow flowiness of it all that just makes it exquisite. Radzuan Razwill.. you rock with bridal dresses! What do I have to do now?? Firstly, save money. Secondly, lose weight.

Cake..

Chocolate Cake is my vice.. I have always preferred cakes over ice creams for a sweet tooth..

In America, the Cake is a big thing...its like pretty important..they have super cake tasting fests...but in Malaysia...they use dummies to make all those tiers... American Wedding cakes are meant to be eaten by all the guests..hence the taste and quality is essential.. in Malaysia its about cutting it and pics and pretty much it.

So I pray I will have money to have a nice cute cake, to indulge with the loved ones on the big day.

Assalamualaikum & Good Day..

Where do I start...and what do i say?

Well... I loved to write..but never seemed to have much time to blog.. and it wasnt until a few weeks ago that I came to know, there were and still are so many brides to be that blog all about wedding preps.. It wasn't until now that I came to understand, all the Pengantin, Bridal magazines I bought could not beat the amount of info I get from the darling blogs I read.. It was the real deal.. not just some marketing show.

I also understood how much money it takes to have a wedding, be it small or big, it needs a lotta dough.. $$$$ dough.. and all this time I thought the money I saved monthly was okay...I was wrong.. I know we should not bazir and Allah wants us to wasatiah at all times...but its my wedding day.. and like any bride, you just wana be a princess for a day and be the queen of his heart.. you want to wear that nice lovely chiffon off-white kurung with beads and pearls around the cuff, hem and neckline.. topping it off with a chiffon veil... you want to hold that perfect bouquet of red roses in your hands to stop the shivering of waiting to hear him say the vows of akad...

Okay..okay..I dont wana sound so much like a bimbo in my first entry but hey.. I think you know what I mean.. you wana be a bride..just for that one day.

So this blog...is to share of my road to legal me yours-him.
